CONFERENCE MEALS

Tickets for the Awards Luncheon on Tuesday and Conference Reception and Banquet on Wednesday are included in the Full Registration fee. Individual tickets are available for an additional fee for guests and other conference attendees. You may purchase additional tickets on the conference registration form, online, or onsite at the registration desk.
The Marriott has a large restaurant on the lobby floor and a variety of dining options in the hotel. There are many great restaurants located within walking distance featuring a variety of cuisines and fresh Pacific seafood.

GETTING TO SAN FRANCISCO
San Francisco is served by both domestic and international airlines into San Francisco International Airport (SFO). It is 25 minutes from SFO to Downtown San Francisco. Oakland International Airport (35 minutes from downtown) and San Jose International Airport (60 minutes from downtown) also serves the San Francisco Bay Area.

TRAVEL MEDICAL / VISA / PASSPORT INFORMATION
No inoculations are required for entry into the United States unless you are arriving from or traveling to in route through an area known to be suffering from an epidemic – particularly cholera or yellow fever. Attendees from all non-US Countries, please see the Visa Information page for details on the new requirements for entry into the US.
IEEE will provide registered attendees a letter to assist you with obtaining a visa to enter the US upon request. Be sure to allow enough time to obtain the visa. To request a visa letter from IEEE, send an email globecom2003@comsoc.org including: name, complete contact information, company/affiliation, position, and IEEE member number, if you are speaker or attendee.

TRANSPORTATION IN SAN FRANCISCO
Taxi fare from San Francisco International Airport to downtown hotels will cost approximately $35 for up to 3 passengers in one vehicle. Rental Cars are available at SFO through numerous national companies including Alamo, Avis, Budget, Dollar, Hertz and National. Valet parking at the Marriott is $38 per night with in/out privileges. Public parking across the street on Fifth and Mission Garage is $20 per day with NO in/out privileges. The San Francisco Subway (BART) has a terminal "Powell" approximately 1 block from the SF Marriott. A new BART terminal is now open at the SF Airport. The BART fare from the airport to downtown San Francisco is $4.70.

EXHIBIT HALL / INTERNET CAFE
The GLOBECOM 2003 Exhibit Hall /Internet Café will be located on the B2 level in the Yerba Buena Ballroom of the San Francisco Marriott Hotel. PC’s will be provided at the Internet Café for conference attendee usage. Hours of operation will be 7:00 – 17:00 Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and 7:00 – 12:00 on Friday.

INTERNET ACCESS
The Internet Café will be open 7:00 – 17:00 Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, 7:00 – 14:00 on Thursday. All guestrooms at the Marriott have data ports. Computers with Internet access are available (for a fee) at the Marriott Business Center.

MEETING ROOMS

IEEE GLOBECOM 2003 will provide meeting rooms for Professional and Technical Committees of the IEEE’s Communications Society. A letter will provide details to Committee Chairs. Arrangements for audio-visual and/or food and beverage services for the IEEE Committee meetings are the sole responsibility of the Committee. Payment for these services is also the Committee’s responsibility. Information on these arrangements will be sent with the confirmation of the meeting space. SPEAKER BREAKFASTS
Presenters are encouraged to take advantage of the Speakers’ Breakfasts at the Marriott Hotel on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. Technical Symposium Speakers and Presenters are invited to attend the speakers’ breakfast on the morning of their presentation. Times and location will be listed in Final Program.

SPEAKER REHEARSAL ROOM
A speaker rehearsal room with LCD projector will be available Sunday – Thursday from 7:30 – 17:00 and Friday from 7:30 – 10:30 for any presenters who wish to rehearse and prepare for their presentations. GLOBECOM 2003 strongly advises all speakers to test out their presentation in the speaker’s rehearsal room prior to their session.

STAFF OFFICE
The Staff Office will be located in the Nob Hill Room at the Marriott Hotel. The Staff Office will be available to assist conference attendees, speakers, and committee members with meetings needs that arise during the conference. The office staff will be on hand to reserve time in the Speakers Rehearsal Room, locate committee members, and help with other necessary conference related arrangements.

CONFERENCE RECORD
All conference attendees will receive a CD-ROM copy of the Conference Record. It will be distributed to attendees on B2 Level in the Registration Area at the Marriott Hotel from Monday through Friday. Additional CD’s of the Conference Record may be purchased at Registration for $50.

LANGUAGE
All Conference Sessions and Publications will be in English.

The US uses 110-120 volts, 60 Hz.

TIME
Pacific Standard Time is Greenwich Mean Time (UTC) minus eight hours, and three hours earlier than Eastern Standard Time.

WEATHER
Early December temperatures in San Francisco range between 6 and 13 degrees Celsius (43-56F). The average rainfall in December is 73.6 mm (2.89 inches). It is recommended that you have a jacket and a raincoat or waterproof jacket. Temperatures throughout the day may vary so it is best to layer your clothing for outdoor activities. Comfortable shoes are recommended for tours and outdoor activities.

DRESS ATTIRE
Business casual is recommended for daytime conference sessions and evening
GLOBECOM 2003 events.
